Location

Australia, located in the Southern Hemisphere between the Pacific and Indian Ocean, can be thought of as on large island. It has six states, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Victoria, Tasmania and New South Wales, and two major mainland territories, the Australian Capital Territory and Northern Territory and the capital city of Canberra is located within the ACT. However, the capital is not the largest city. Australia has two main cities, Sydney in New South Wales and Melbourne in Victoria. It is with a population of 12milion people, and is one of the two main cities for economy and culture.
